It's been a few days...
It's been a few days since I last wrote a post...oops! I have just been busy adjusting to my new routine. I have met up with more friends in the last few weeks than I did in my last two quarters of school combined.
It feels very appropriate for spring, to be working on personal growth and emerging from my antisocial, stressed winter mindset.
Now that the weather isn't as cold, I have taken to walking home from work a few days a week. This morning the sun was so bright, that I decided to walk to work. What a great decision! As I strolled along listening to Count Basie's Atomic Swing, I wasn't thinking about my work day ahead, or things on my to-do list. I was admiring the way the sun flashes off the glass of the skyscrapers, or the cute shoes the business woman I just passed was wearing. I was counting the number of coffee cups I saw in the block between Illinois Street and Grand Avenue (7). I was imagining what the inside of some of the old buildings might look like.
Not only did I start my day with mild exercise, I also got fresh air, and stretched my imagination a bit. I am such a morning person, and would love to see the sunrise everyday, but the pull of a few more hours of sleep is usually too strong. Walking to work this morning put me in the mental headspace that I usually only achieve when I wake up at dawn and visit the lake. The day seems so much brighter when the sun is shining, and I have a clear mind.
Hopefully the weather stays nice for a little while, so I can continue to enjoy these beautiful days and take more walks to and from home. Now I just need to figure out what music works best on the walk home in the evenings!
Happy walking!!
